"We're grown men and we know how to deal with things in a good way," wide receiver Chansi Stuckey said when asked if the Jets (3-3) will have trouble staying positive after such a disheartening defeat. "We know we still have a bunch of games left and the season can turn around at anytime."

"We looked at the tape (Monday), made the corrections and now Kansas City is going to be our main focus," left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson said. "I think it's a matter of analyzing what we did wrong. I think Kansas City is another opponent we have to look forward to and say, 'Hey, in order to rectify this wrong, we have to make that right,' and we are really going to do everything in our power to get that win."

Theoretically, that shouldn't be too difficult, considering the reeling Chiefs (1-5) are third-string quarterback Tyler Thigpen for that game. Starter Brodie Croyle suffered a season-ending knee injury in a loss to Tennessee on Sunday, and backup Damon Huard came on and hurt the thumb on his throwing hand.

Thigpen, formerly of Coastal Carolina, had to finish the game and will have to start against the Jets. Granted, he led the Chiefs to all of their 10 points against Tennessee, but he still has a passer rating of 44.3. As bad as Brett Favre was in the loss to the Raiders, he still had a better rating, with a 47.3.

Kansas City coach Herm Edwards, who used to pilot the Jets, has indicated the Chiefs might have to sign another quarterback this week, because the next option after Thigpen is the even more untested Ingle Martin. Does anybody have Vinny Testaverde's phone number handy?

But the Jets aren't worried about Kansas City's woes. They're just trying to remedy their own ills after a long flight back from Oakland.

Linebacker Calvin Pace said the trip back was "extremely long, especially after a loss. It made it even longer. We're not the schedule makers. ... You have to put it behind you. They won. We obviously didn't play our best game. Nobody is going to feel sorry for us. Kansas City is going to try to come in here and do the same thing, so we have to move on."
