--CB Dwight Lowery, who was benched in the third quarter against Buffalo the week before after several completions against him, had problems again vs. St. Louis, picking up two penalties on one third-quarter drive by the Rams, including a pass interference call in the end zone.

--CB Ty Law was reportedly signed to a one-year deal by the Jets. Law, 34, isn't the cover corner he once was, but may be able to help the Jets in nickel situations.

--QB Brett Favre completed 14 of 19 attempts for 167 yards and one touchdown and didn't throw an interception for the first time since opening-day at Miami. He also was turnover-free for the first time this season. In that victory over Miami, he lost a fumble on a strip sack.

--SS Abram Elam had a second straight excellent game in place of starter Eric Smith, who still is feeling the effects of two concussions within a three-week span earlier in the season. Elam, who had a 92-yard interception return for a touchdown last week, had a strip sack that turned into a 50-yard score on a fumble return for Calvin Pace.

--QB Kellen Clemens made his first appearance since Sept. 22 against San Diego when he entered in the fourth quarter on the 47-3 victory over the Rams. He didn't attempt a pass in mop-up duty against St. Louis.

REPORT CARD VS. RAMS

PASSING OFFENSE: A-minus -- Once again, it was Brett Favre, game manager. He completed 14 of 19 passes for 167 yards but completed one deep shot, a 54-yarder to rookie TE Dustin Keller, who had career-highs in receptions (six) and yards (107). Favre had a 1-yard TD throw to Keller and broke a seven-game streak of throwing at least one interception.

RUSHING OFFENSE: A -- The Jets went right at the Rams' weakness, an undersized front seven. That strategy resulted in a career-high three rushing TDs for Thomas Jones, and his 149 yards rushing on 26 carries was the fourth-highest single-game total of his career. Leon Washington had 54 yards on 12 carries, mostly in mop-up duty.

PASS DEFENSE: A-minus -- The Jets sacked Marc Bulger twice and generated a lot of pressure on him, which helped set up FS Kerry Rhodes' first interception of the year. Dwight Lowery forced a fumble from WR Derek Stanley that was recovered by Rhodes, who also made an incredible play for another turnover, tipping a pass from Trent Green to teammate Hank Poteat for an interception.

RUSH DEFENSE: B -- The Rams averaged 3.8 yards per rush, far above the 3.1 the Jets had been allowing entering the game, but none of it was of any consequence as St. Louis had to abandon the running game as its deficit kept growing. LB Eric Barton had one tackle for loss and twice helped stuff Antonio Pittman near the goal line to keep St. Louis out of the end zone.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B-plus -- Jay Feely was 4-for-4 on FG attempts, including a 55-yarder that tied the team record and tied his personal best. Stanley averaged only 20 yards on six kickoff returns for the Rams, while the Jets' Leon Washington averaged 12.3 yards on four punt returns. Reggie Hodges punted only once for the second straight game, and netted 32 yards.

COACHING: A-minus -- Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer kept his calls pretty vanilla, and that was the right way to go against a St. Louis defense that struggles to stop the run. It was good to see Keller more involved in the passing game. There was a nice mix of different kinds of pressures on defense, which kept St. Louis QB Marc Bulger off-balance early in the first half, when the game was still in doubt.
