Since getting traded from the Panthers to the New York Jets during the offseason, Kris Jenkins has returned to being one of the NFL's best defensive tackles.
Jenkins was an elite player a few years ago, but had slumped into mediocrity in recent seasons. He was tired of being with the Panthers, and they were tired of him.
The trade was best for both sides, and so far has worked out well for everyone involved.
Carolina defensive players have been known to call Jenkins a "bad apple." Without him, they've got one of the NFL's top 10 defenses.
Ever since Jenkins arrived in the "Big Apple," he has been on his best behavior and has been playing so well that some in the national media have listed him among the league's leading MVP candidates.
With the addition of Jenkins and quarterback Brett Favre via trades, plus the signing of several top free agents, the Jets are 8-3 and last week became the first team this season to beat the Tennessee Titans .
Some folks around the Panthers question whether Jenkins will be able to maintain his play and good behavior beyond this season, but kudos to him for getting off to a good start in his new home.
