P Reggie Hodges finally will get his chance, barring another injury setback, to replace Ben Graham, who was cut for the second time in two weeks. The Jets are hoping that Hodges will have more hang time on his punts and be less prone to shanks than Graham, but he suffered a hamstring injury his first week with the team, which was why they re-signed Graham for two games.
RB Jesse Chatman has returned after being suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's policy on steroids and related substances. He is at 210 pounds and expects to work his way onto the 45-man game-day roster for the Jets game against Cincinnati on Oct. 12. The team has a roster exemption for him during the bye week, but must make a move next week to make room.
