FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) - The New York Jets signed free agent defensive tackle Anthony Harris and undrafted free agent tight end Jack Simmons on Monday.
Harris is a defensive lineman with long-snapping experience who signed with Carolina before last season but was waived before training camp. He played last year for Rock River of the Continental Indoor Football League.
Simmons started for three seasons at the University of Minnesota, where he had 76 catches for 762 yards and three touchdowns in 41 games. Jets coach Rex Ryan said he was impressed by Simmons, a tryout player, during the team's rookie minicamp last weekend. The signing gives the Jets three tight ends, including Dustin Keller and James Dearth, primarily a long snapper.
