The Browns have hired a new salary-cap specialist.
She is Dawn Aponte, who worked for the NFL Management Council and, before that, the New York Jets.
According to the club's announcement, Aponte will hold the title of vice president/Football administration and will oversee management of the salary cap and player contract negotiations.
In a statement, General Manager George Kokinis said: "Dawn is an extremely bright executive. She has expertise in many different facets of the NFL, including contract negotiations, salary-cap management, and league labor relations.
"Her unique and valuable experience will be an asset to our front office."
Aponte spent the past three years in the NFL Management Council office as vice president of labor finance. Before that, she worked for the Jets for nearly 15 years, most recently as the club's senior director of Football administration.
Aponte graduated from the University of Delaware in 1993, received her master's degree from Wagner College in 1999 and earned her law degree from New York Law School. She passed the New York Bar exam in 2003.
The team's previous salary-cap specialist, Trip MacCracken, will work with Aponte, according to a club spokesman.
