When a superstar of Brett Favre’s status changes addresses this late in the game, there are all kinds of people looking at their cards and figuring out what they have.
Fox carries the NFC side of things and the NFL schedule was made with the belief that Favre was retired. Yeah, a Favre-less Packers team sucks ratings-wise … but it wasn’t like they weren’t prepared for it. They will get Favre in Weeks 4 and 10 when the Jets host the Falcons and Rams, respectively.
Fox’s loss is now CBS’s gain as that network becomes the home to Favre. I don’t think that Jets-Dolphins game in Week 1 was going to be high on the list of being the national game. Methinks it is now. Or how about Week 2 … which will be Brett Favre’s first home game with the Jets? Oh, they only face the New England Patriots that day. Ya think anybody will wanna watch?
Still, there aren’t any mega-matchups after that for the Jets and CBS. The Jets face the Bengals, Raiders, Chiefs and Bills before the flex scheduling can begin.
