Monday night at midnight, people like me will be forking over money to video game stores to buy Madden ‘09.
On the cover of the game will be Brett Favre wearing his Packers uniform. Or course, that won’t happen this season, so it is an awkward design to honor the 20th anniversary of the game. No new cover with Favre in a Jets uniform will be printed, even after this initial launch.
Kinda goes against EA Sports marketing of the game “adapting”, eh?
Favre is in the game … but he’s not on the Jets or Packers rosters. No, to get him on the Jets you must cut him from the all-time greats team (which sends him to the free agents) and then add him to the Jets.
EA Sports put Favre on the cover to honor his retirement and that his career and success ran concurrent with the Madden series. Not to mention it is hard to put the Madden Curse on a player that isn’t even active.
Well, until now.
